The functional properties of packaging film materials directly drive the functional development of composite flexible packaging materials. The following is a brief introduction to the functional properties of several commonly used packaging materials.
1. Commonly used packaging materials: PE film
Heat-sealable PE materials have evolved from single-layer blown films to multi-layer co-extruded films, so that the formulas of the inner, middle and outer layers can be designed differently. The blending formula design of different types of polyethylene resins can produce different sealing temperatures, different heat-sealing temperature ranges, different anti-sealing contamination properties, hot adhesive strengths, anti-static effects, etc., to meet specific product packaging requirements and PE film materials with different functional properties.
In recent years, biaxially oriented polyethylene (BOPE) films have also been developed, which improve the tensile strength of polyethylene films and have higher heat-sealing strength.
2. CPP Film Material
CPP materials are commonly used in BOPP / CPP this moisture-proof light packaging structure, but different CPP resin formulations can also be made of different functional properties of the film, such as improved low-temperature resistance, resistance to high-temperature cooking, lower sealing temperature, high puncture strength, corrosion resistance, and other functional properties of the heat-sealing materials.
Recent years, the industry has also developed a CPP matte film, increasing the visual display effect of single-layer CPP film bags.
3. BOPP film materials
Light packaging composite film is most commonly used is ordinary BOPP light film and BOPP matte film, there are also BOPP heat sealing film (single-sided or double-sided heat sealing), BOPP pearl film.
BOPP is characterized by high tensile strength (suitable for multi-color overprinting), excellent water vapor barrier properties, widely used in moisture-resistant light packaging of the face of the printed material.
BOPP matte film with a matte decorative effect similar to the paper. BOPP heat sealing film can be used as a single-layer packaging materials, such as for wrapping the inner packaging of candy with. BOPP pearl film is mostly used for ice-cream packaging heat sealing layer materials, can save white ink printing, its low density, 2 to 3N/15mm sealing strength so that the bag is easy to open to take out the contents.
In addition, such as BOPP anti-fog film, holographic OPP laser film, PP synthetic paper, biodegradable BOPP film and other BOPP series of functional films have also been popularized and applied in a specific range.
4. Commonly used packaging materials: PET film material
Ordinary 12MICRONS PET light film is widely used in composite flexible packaging, the mechanical strength of its laminated packaging products is much higher than the BOPP double-layer composite products (slightly lower than the BOPA double-layer composite products), and the oxygen barrier capacity of the BOPP/PE (CPP) composite film to reduce the 20 to 30 times.
The heat resistance of PET materials is very good, and can be made to the flatness of the good bags. the PET heat-shrinkable film, matte PET PET heat-shrinkable film, matte PET film, high-barrier polyester film, PET twist film, linear tear PET film and other functional products are also used.
5. Common packaging material : nylon film
Biaxially oriented nylon film is widely used in vacuum, boiling and steaming bags for its high strength, high puncture resistance, high temperature resistance and better oxygen barrier.
Most large-capacity laminated pouches over 1.7kg also use BOPA//PE structure for good drop resistance.
Cast nylon film, widely used in Japan for frozen food packaging, which has good low temperature resistance, reducing the bag breakage rate during low temperature storage and transportation.
6. Common Packaging Material : Aluminium coating Metalized Film
Vacuum aluminizing is in the film (such as PET, BOPP, CPP, PE, PVC, etc.) the surface of the formation of a layer of dense aluminum layer, thus greatly increasing the film on the water vapor, oxygen, light barrier capacity, the most widely used in the composite flexible packaging VMPET, VMCPP materials.
VMPET for three-layer laminating, VMCPP for the two-layer laminating.
OPP//VMPET//PE structure has now been maturely used in the press vegetables, sprouts products in the vacuum boiling packaging. PE structure has now been maturely applied to squeeze vegetables, sprouts products in the vacuum boiling packaging, in order to overcome the shortcomings of ordinary aluminized products, aluminum layer easy to migrate, do not resist the shortcomings of boiling, the development of VMPET products with the bottom coating type, before and after the boiling of the peeling strength of more than 1.5N/15mm, and the aluminum layer does not appear to migrate, enhance the overall barrier performance of the bag.
7. Common packaging materials: Aluminum foil
Aluminum foil for flexible packaging is generally 6.5μm or 9μm 12microns thickness, aluminum foil is theoretically a high barrier material, water permeability, oxygen permeability, light permeability are "0", but in fact there are pinholes in the aluminum foil and folding poor pinhole resistance, there are a number of actual barrier packaging effect is not ideal. The key to the application of aluminum foil is to avoid pinholes during processing, packaging and transportation, thus reducing the actual barrier capacity. In recent years, there is a tendency for aluminum foil materials to be replaced by more economical packaging materials in their traditional application areas.
8. Commonly used packaging materials: coated high-barrier films
Mainly PVDC coated film (K coating film), PVA coated film (A coating film).
PVDC has excellent oxygen barrier and moisture resistance, and has excellent transparency, coated PVDC film used in the base film is mainly BOPP, BOPET, BOPA, CPP, etc., but also can be PE, PVC, cellophane and other films, in the composite flexible packaging in the most used KOPP, KPET, KPA film.
9. Common Packaging Materials: Co-extruded High Barrier Films
Co-extrusion is two or more different plastics, through two or more than two extruders, respectively, so that a variety of plastics melting and plasticizing for a pair of die head, the preparation of composite films of a molding method. Co-extruded barrier composite films are usually made from a combination of barrier plastics, polyolefin plastics and adhesive resins of three major types of materials, barrier resins are mainly PA, EVOH, PVDC, etc..
The above is only common packaging materials, in fact, at least the use of oxide vapor coating, PVC, PS, PEN, paper, etc., and the same resin according to different processing methods, different formulations can be produced by modification of different functional properties of the film material. Lamination of different functional films, through dry lamination, solvent-free lamination, extrusion lamination and other composite technology to produce functional composite flexible packaging materials to meet the needs of different products packaging.
